Mungyeong City is medium mountain area which is located in the southeast of Korea and the northwest land of Gyeongsangbuk-do in its local section. It shares a border with Yecheon County to the east, Sangju County to the south, Goesan County of Chungcheongbuk-do to the west, and Jecheon, Chungju and Danyang County of Gyeongsangbuk-do to the north.
Joryeong Mountain of Baekdudaegan was important place in social, cultural, economical and military aspects as the highest and roughest valley on Youngnamdaero connecting Han River and Nakdong River.
Saejae means 『pass even hard for birds to fly over』, 『pass filled with reeds』, 『between』Haneuljae and Aurijae, or 『New(新) pass』, and recorded as Chojeom(草岾) in old documents.After Imjinwaeran, 3 gateways (historic spot No.147) (Juheulgwan, Jogokgwan, and Joryeonggwan) were established here and became fortress for national defense. There was only Gyogwi market place remained, but it was reconstructed in 1999. There is marker written as “San-bul-dyo-shim” in Korean (local cultural asset data No.226). This area was appointed as local monument No.18 in 1974 and protected as Provincial Park in 1981. So lots of tourist visits here.
Mum Gyeong is one of nature and eco-friendly city. One of my favorite city~. It provieds lots of leisure facilities and adventures here. If you want to feel slow motions, here is best city. Very famous apples and fruit of Maximowiczia typica. (문경은 가족과 함께 슬로시티의 매력에 푹 빠져 볼 수 있는 최적의 여행지 중의 한 곳인 것 같습니다. 옛길 걷기, 석탄박물관, 철로자전거, 사과, 오미자가 유명한 거 아시죠^^?)
